The changes were heralded by Mike Green of Mayville when he was a state representative a few years back. He drafted the current law that allows nearly everyone -- with a few exceptions -- to carry a concealed weapon. They can carry the weapon concealed everywhere except in a few "gun free zones." Those who apply for the CCW permit are required to submit to a background search, fingerprinting, and eight hours of classes. However, Green, who took over this month as 31st District Senator, wants to make changes to the law that restricts where a concealed weapon can be carried.
