The local Hunt for the Hungry game donation program continues to serve area residents in need, even as contributions have fallen amid a slumping economy and reduced deer harvest last year. This laudable program kicks off its 16th year with the start of the archery deer season Saturday. As it does, we implore hunters to consider donating what they can, and applaud a new mechanism that could help increase contributions from local outdoors enthusiasts.
