Chicago' the Supreme Court case affirming that the Second Amendment ensures an individual right to own firearms Justice Clarence Thomas discussed the history of gun control laws, whose purpose was to stifle the rights of minorities and to prevent African Americans from defending themselves against the likes of the Ku Klux Klan.
