Fairfax, Va. -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing U.S. Representative Travis Childers (D-1) for re-election in Mississippi’s general election on November 2nd.
“The National Rifle Association is committed to preserving freedom for all law-abiding Americans. We support Congressman Childers because he has stood with gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in this country,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA–PVF.
During his tenure in Congress, Rep. Childers has demonstrated a solid commitment to the Second Amendment, both in Mississippi and across the country. Most recently, he led the effort to restore Second Amendment rights to residents of our nation’s capital by cosponsoring the D.C. Second Amendment Enforcement Act. In 2009, Rep. Childers signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief supporting the Second Amendment’s application to state and local governments in the McDonald case now before the Supreme Court. Finally, he cosponsored legislation to reform the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Congressman Travis Childers' unwavering support for individual gun ownership rights has earned him an “A+” rating and endorsement by NRA-PVF.
"Mississippi’s hunters and gun owners value their right to own firearms, and Travis Childers is the best candidate to help them preserve that freedom,” concluded Cox. “We urge all NRA members and gun owners to cast their vote for Rep. Travis Childers on November 2nd.”
Chris W. Cox is executive director of NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
