NRA-PVF Endorses Jeff Duncan in South Carolina's Republican Primary Runoff for U.S. House of Representatives

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Fairfax, Va. -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Jeff Duncan for the U.S. House of Representatives in South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District in the June 22nd Republican runoff election.

"As a life member of the NRA, South Carolinians can rest assured that Jeff Duncan will protect their Second Amendment freedom and hunting heritage," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA–PVF.

Jeff Duncan’s steadfast support for individual gun ownership rights earned him an "A" rating and endorsement by NRA-PVF.

In response to his endorsement Congressman Jeff Duncan said, "Today I am honored to have the endorsement of the National Rifle Association. As an avid hunter, outdoor enthusiast, and life member of the NRA, I understand the importance of protecting the right to keep and bear arms. In the South Carolina House, I have fought against liberal special interest groups wanting to rollback Second Amendment protections. For my proven track record the NRA has endorsed my candidacy. I look forward to representing the 3rd District in Washington and taking the fight to those who aim to take our Second Amendment rights away in D.C. just as I have in South Carolina."

Throughout his tenure in the South Carolina state House, Jeff Duncan has maintained a perfect pro-gun voting record and cosponsored several key pieces of legislation including: Castle doctrine; repeal of South Carolina’s one-handgun-a-month law; closing access to South Carolina’s concealed carry permit database; and reforming South Carolina’s Right-to-Carry reciprocity laws. Duncan also voted in favor of preventing local governments from confiscating firearms from law-abiding citizens during states of emergency; and a constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right to hunt and fish for all South Carolinians.

"The choice is clear for NRA members, gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District," concluded Cox. "Vote for Jeff Duncan on June 22nd."

Chris W. Cox is the executive director of NRA's Institute for Legislative Action. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
