On March 12, the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety agreed to table LD1817; legislation which would have allowed law enforcement officers to seize firearms for various charges related to domestic violence disputes even if a firearm was not allegedly used (or threatened to be used) in the altercation. If enacted, someone’s firearms could have been confiscated without the opportunity to participate in the judicial process.
Please contact the members of the Committee today and thank them for opposing this legislation, which would restrict your Second Amendment rights without due process.
