On Monday, March 1, NRA-supported LB 817 successfully advanced in the
The first amendment extended the privileges on LB 817 to law enforcement, which were unintentionally left out of the bill. The second amendment added the contents of a bill sponsored by State Senator Annette Dubas (34), which would extend the increased penalties for illegal discharge of a firearm to cities of the 1st class.
Because of the necessity of accommodating a procedural mix-up, State Senator Mark Christensen's (44) amendment will not be offered until Select File, which would to prevent civil lawsuits in self-defense situations.
Please contact your Senator and thank them for advancing the LB 817 to Select File. Also please encourage them to adopt the civil immunity provisions of the Castle Doctrine bill during Select File. For your Senator’s contact information please click here.
