Just after 2 p.m., a homeowner in Yakima, Wash. saw a burglar throw a brick through his window. The vandal and an accomplice then entered the home, as the homeowner retrieved a shotgun and called police. Upon discovering the homeowner was armed, one of the intruders fled to a waiting getaway car and another on foot as the homeowner fired at them. Police picked up where the armed citizen left off, following the getaway car in a high-speed chase that ended in the capture of the two criminals. The third criminal, who fled on foot, was also brought into custody. (The Yakima Herald-Republic, Yakima, Wash. 01/31/10)
