The House Homeland Security Committee marked up the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Reauthorization bill (H.R. 2200) on May 14. The Committee also adopted (by voice vote) the DeFazio-Dent amendment (sponsored by Representatives Peter DeFazio (D-OR), and Charles Dent (R-PA)).
This amendment is very important, as it allows Federal Flight Deck Officers (FFDO) to be reimbursed for their training expenses, and to use other federal training facilities to re-qualify their firearms proficiency training. The amendment also authorizes the hiring of additional personnel to administer the FFDO program.
The House passed H.R. 2200 by a 397-25 vote on June 4. This week the measure was referred in the Senate to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
NRA will continue to support this important anti-terrorism program.
