On Monday, April 13, House Bill 1623, was signed into law by Governor Mike Beebe (D). Instead of granting complete confidentiality, HB 1623 will only prevent the addresses of permitees, while access to the names and zips codes of Right-to-Carry permit holders will still remain vulnerable.
This legislation was drafted in response to the invasion of Right-to-Carry permit holders’ privacy when a list of permittees was published online. The goal of HB1623 was to make all personal information of Right-to-Cary permit holders private. As this bill has currently been amended, only the addresses of permit holders will remain confidential.
NRA will work with legislators next session to remove all offending language and in a continued effort to protect the personal information of all Right-to-Carry permit holders.
Thank you to all those members who contacted their legislators in support of the original language of HB 1623.
