Sen. Byron Dorgan, D N.D., on Tuesday pressed interior secretary nominee Sen. Ken Salazar to change the position of the National Park Service on how to thin the elk herd in North Dakota's Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Dorgan wants the federal government to save money by allowing qualified North Dakota volunteers to thin the elk herd.
