Governor Martin O’Malley (D) has signed four important pro-hunting bills thus far in 2008.
Most recently, on Thursday, April 24, Governor O’Malley signed House Bill 1482, sponsored by the Harford County Delegation and State Senators Barry Glassman (R-35) and Nancy Jacobs (R-34). This legislation would remove Harford County from the list of counties in which deer hunting is prohibited on private property on the first Sunday of the bow-hunting season in November and the first Sunday of the deer firearms season.
As we previously reported, House Bill 840 was signed by the Governor on Tuesday, April 8. This legislation will authorize a person in Washington County to hunt deer on specified Sundays on private property with a bow and arrow during October and November. Also signed on April 8, House Bill 938 will remove Montgomery County from the list of counties in which deer hunting on private lands on specified Sundays is prohibited.
Thank you to all of the NRA members who answered the call in support of these pro-hunting bills. Your action played a pivotal role in the enactment of these important pieces of legislation. Without you this victory would have been impossible.
