“The Brownsville Herald reported last week that a state lawmaker who opposed a bill giving Texans stronger rights to defend themselves with deadly force shot a man he says was trying to steal copper wiring from a house that the legislator is building,” writes J.R. Labbe. “Dangedest thing, isn`t it? Miles--who was more than justified in protecting himself from a knife-throwing robbery suspect--might have to hire an attorney to defend himself from a civil suit.”
