The Legislature`s 11th-hour decision to recall a firearms bill before the governor could sign it into law has angered a leading gun-control advocate in Maine. State officials say the bill had to be withdrawn at the last minute because it would have conflicted with existing and proposed federal laws, possibly jeopardizing public-safety funding from the federal government.
