The NRA is firing back at allegations that it has joined anti-gun Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy in promoting a gun-control bill. A big part of the problem, the group contends, is sloppy press reporting on the McCarthy legislation. Chris W. Cox, the NRA’s chief lobbyist, explains that much of the coverage of the group’s provisional alliance with McCarthy characterized her bill--misleadingly--as a “gun control” measure.
