The Missouri State Senate may hear Senate Bill 62 as early as this afternoon.
SB62, "Castle Doctrine" self-defense legislation sponsored by State Senator Jack Goodman (R-29), ensures that law-abiding Missourians will no longer have a duty to retreat from a violent attack and may stand their ground to defend themselves and their loved ones.
Several critical, pro-gun provisions have been added to SB62, including language that: repeals Missouri's outdated, redundant and arbitrary “permit to acquire a handgun” statute; authorizes law enforcement agencies to sell confiscated firearms; and exempts corrections officers, federal flight deck officers, and retired peace officers from certain Missouri license to carry requirements. Last week, the House of Representatives passed SB62 by an overwhelming vote of 154-6.
Please contact your State Senator as soon as possible and strongly encourage him or her to support and vote for SB62 in its current form and oppose all amendments!
