On Tuesday, May 1, the Missouri House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed Senate Bill 62, sponsored by Senator Jack Goodman (R), by a vote of 154 to 6. SB 62, Missouri’s Castle Doctrine legislation, provides that law-abiding Missourians will not have a duty to retreat from a violent attack. SB 62 will now go back to the Senate floor for consideration, because several key pro-gun provisions have been added.
Among the pro-Second Amendment provisions added by the House are:
ü Repeal of Missouri’s out-dated, arbitrary, and redundant “permit to acquire” a handgun;
ü Permit retired peace officers to carry a concealed firearm without a carry permit; and
ü Allow law enforcement agencies to sell confiscated firearms rather than destroying them.
The Senate could consider SB 62 at any time, please contact your State Senator immediately at (573)-751-3824 and strongly urge him or her to support and vote for final passage of SB 62!
