H.B. 760 is more than overreaching legislative tyranny. It`s stupid and insulting. In essence, it would require gun owners statewide to reregister -- annually -- every firearm they possess except for specified collector`s items or antiques manufactured prior to 1898. That`s a bit much in a state where gun purchasers now have to provide personal information to sellers and undergo background checks.

Today, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois struck down provisions of the Protect Illinois Communities Act (PICA) that prohibit “assault weapons” and “large-capacity magazines” in an NRA-supported case, Barnett v. Raoul.
