House Bill 340, sponsored by State Representative Jack Wells (R-69), will soon be coming up for a vote on the House floor and it needs your help.
HB 340 provides several specific protections for law-abiding citizens who defend themselves from criminal attack. HB340 protects the right of self-defense by safeguarding victims from the moments before the incident to the resolution of a criminal trial.
This bill was amended in the House Judiciary Committee to address concerns expressed by law enforcement, but it remains a very good bill. However, there will be attempts during the floor debate to amend HB 340 in ways that will damage the bill beyond repair.
Please contact your State Representative and ask him or her to vote for HB 340 in its current form and to resist any and all attempts to amend the bill on Second Reading.
