On Friday, February 9, Senate Bill 197, sponsored by Senator Shirley Love (D-11), passed the State Senate unanimously and is now headed to the House of Delegates.
SB 197, “Castle Doctrine” legislation, which would clarify that reasonable force may be used to protect one’s self, real and personal property, and the person and property of another. The bill also provides that a person who uses reasonable force against an intruder shall be immune from civil and criminal liability for injuries or death of the intruder.
