On Wednesday, February 7, two Castle Doctrine bills (House Bill 189 and House Bill 60) will be heard in the House Special Committee on General Laws at 12:00 p.m.
The "Castle Doctrine" self-defense bill simply states that if a criminal breaks into your home, your occupied vehicle or your place of business, you do not have a “duty to retreat.” The bill also provides protection from criminal prosecution and civil litigation for those who defend themselves from criminal attack.
Following Governor Matt Blunt's promotion of Castle Doctrine legislation during his "State of the State" address on January 24, the General Assembly is poised to add Missouri as the next state to protect the right of self-defense.
Please contact your State Representative at (573) 751-3659 as soon as possible and urge him or her to support both HB189 and HB60 in the Missouri House of Representatives.
