While a lot of other little girls she knew were playing house and doing "girl things," Janet Raab`s father was teaching her to shoot. Raab, now 47, of Centreville, is one of seven American women who will be competing in the World Shooting Championships as a member of the U.S. rifle team. The tournament will be held in Croatia July 22 through Aug. 5.

Today, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois struck down provisions of the Protect Illinois Communities Act (PICA) that prohibit “assault weapons” and “large-capacity magazines” in an NRA-supported case, Barnett v. Raoul.
