South Carolina State of Emergency Bill on the Move!

Friday, April 7, 2006

Thanks to phone calls from NRA members H. 4681, introduced by Representative Mike Pitts (R-14), unanimously passed the House Judiciary Committee’s Constitutional Laws Subcommittee with an added amendment that further strengthens the bill.  H 4681 will now come before the full Judiciary Committee.

This legislation would remove the ability of local governments to restrict the use, sale, or transportation of firearms during a state of emergency, and would also prohibit South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) from releasing the personal information of Right-to-Carry (RTC) permit holders unless the request for the information is part of an investigation by law enforcement.

Please contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee and urge them to support H 4681.  A list of the members of the Judiciary Committee can be found by going to www.scstatehouse.net/html-pages/housecommlst.html#jud
