"Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence that "all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness,"" writes Senator Greg Goggans. "This basic philosophy is the foundation of the American psyche and way of life. However, without life, the pursuit of happiness and liberty would not exist. The ability to preserve these rights should be as fundamental as the rights themselves."
