Assembly Bill 352 failed in a vote before the State Senate Tuesday. The bill was granted reconsideration and could come up before the Senate at any time. AB 352 would expand the definition of unsafe handguns to include semi-automatic pistols that are not designed and equipped with an array of microscopic characters, which identify the make, model, and serial number of the pistol by imprinting the characters on each cartridge case when the firearm is discharged. This legislation could severely restrict the introduction of new semi-automatic handguns into the California market.
If AB 352 passes the Senate it must go back to the Assembly Floor for a final vote. Please call the State Senate and Assembly and urge them to vote NO on AB 352. Your call is needed before the end of session on Friday September 9! The following link can locate contact information for your legislators: http://www.assembly.ca.gov/defaulttext.asp.
