The Cook County Board is currently considering a proposal that would ban certain semi-automatic firearms throughout the county. If passed, this ordinance would ban many of the semi-automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns you own, leaving them subject to confiscation by the Cook County Sheriff. The proposal also threatens hefty fines of $500 for individuals possessing these firearms, and a possible jail term. The County Board is expected to take action on this ban at the next board meeting, which is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on September 8, at the County Board Room, Room 569, 118 North Clark St., Chicago.
Please contact your Cook County commissioners today and urge them to oppose these unnecessary restrictions, and make plans to attend the meeting on September 8. It is critical that NRA members and the pro-gun community voice their opposition to this attack on the Second Amendment. The general number for the County Board is 312-603-6398.
