Robert Hartley has been to a Maine courthouse only once, for jury duty. So when Hartley, an avid target shooter from Clinton, learned of a proposal for a new sales tax on guns to pay for courthouse security, he viewed the idea as unfair. He objects to having to spend more for his next firearm because someone else may bring a gun or a knife to court. "I don`t feel I should be singled out," he said.
