Organisations representing gun owners and arms dealers have asked President Thabo Mbeki to order an inquiry into the the Central Firearms Registry (CFR). "The CFR is cloaking itself in more and more red tape, which is leading to despair within the industry. The public is becoming frustrated with the delays and the almost impossible task of getting a legal firearm," asserts The South African Arms and Ammunition Dealers Association (SAAADA) and the South African Gun Owners` Association.
