"This is a vital step forward in bringing a mourning dove season to Michigan," said Chris Cox, NRA`s chief lobbyist. "The sportsmen of Michigan do not want animal rights extremists making crucial decisions about their sport and hunting traditions. Today, Michigan sportsmen are a step closer to joining hunters in 39 states and enjoying a dove hunting season."
Unhampered by the inclement weather, NRA President Kayne Robinson, NRA board member and music legend Ted Nugent, and over 750 NRA members and sportsmen rallied in support of this important legislation on the Michigan Capitol steps just prior to the vote.
HB 5029 now goes before the Michigan Senate for consideration.
