As you may know from NRA-ILA alerts, S. 659, the "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act," is currently before the U.S. Senate. Dozens of national associations, unions, wildlife conservation groups, and shooting sports organizations--representing literally millions of dedicated members, workers, and sportsmen--have expressed their unqualified support for this critically important legislation which seeks to protect America`s firearm manufacturers and dealers from malicious, predatory lawsuits.
But despite this overwhelming support, Councilor Elwood Black is pressuring the Indianapolis City Council to adopt a resolution urging Indiana`s representatives in Washington to vote against S. 659. On Wednesday, 29 October, the Indianapolis Council`s Public Safety Committee will meet to consider Special Resolution 487, which expresses opposition to all federal legislation aimed at curtailing reckless lawsuits against gun manufacturers. Please contact your Councilor and urge the defeat of Special Resolution 487. You can find contact information for the Council by clicking on the Write Your Reps tool to the left. Please also attend the hearing if possible. It will be held at 5:00 pm in Room 260 of the City-County Building, 200 E. Washington Street, in Indianapolis.
