Few Minnesotans are alive who remember the state`s last prairie chicken hunt, in 1942 -- a year when 58,000 of the birds were killed, down from a peak of more than 328,000 in 1923. Now, starting Saturday, Minnesota hunters -- albeit in very limited numbers and in a relatively small area -- again will seek "chickens" in the state`s first prairie chicken season in more than 60 years.
