A group of police chiefs and prosecutors joined Democratic lawmakers Sunday in urging Gov. Bill Owens to veto a bill that would override local gun laws. Senate Bill 25 passed the state House on Friday and now awaits the governor`s signature. The bill would prohibit local governments from making gun control laws more restrictive than the state`s and would abolish local registries of gun owners.
