Requests for concealed weapons permits have soared in the wake of recent slayings of three Baton Rouge women by a serial killer. James Sandifer, president of the Common Sense Against Crime and state president of the Louisiana Crime Victims` Coalitions, said he doesn`t believe people are overreacting by buying guns and asks: "Why should we be afraid of law-abiding citizens? As a law-abiding citizen, if the government cannot trust you with a handgun, how can you trust that same government?"
