Dear Ohio NRA Member:
Recently, the Ohio Legislature approved House Bill 192 that protects the lawful firearms industry from junk lawsuits filed by Ohio cities and municipalities. This bill was successfully passed by the Ohio Legislature and signed into law by Governor Bob Taft.
If Governor Taft had not signed HB 192 into law, lawsuits similar to the ones filed by the Cities of Cincinnati and Cleveland against firearms manufacturers would continue to be filed, at the taxpayer`s expense, causing our courts to be tied up in vicious legal proceedings for a long time for no valid reason. Governor Taft demonstrated the courage of his convictions by saying that laws should be made by the legislature, not by the courts, and definitely not by greedy trial lawyers.
As NRA members, it is important that we thank our lawmakers when they fight to oppose new restrictions on law-abiding citizens and industries. Please call Governor Bob Taft today at (614) 466-3555, email him at [email protected], or write him at Vern Riffe Center, 30th Floor, 77 South High Street, Columbus, OH 43215, and thank him for signing HB 192 into law.
Sincerely, National Rifle Association, Institute for Legislative Action
