“Gunny” Joins Honorary Chairman Chuck Norris
in 2012 Voter Registration Campaign
Fairfax, VA – The National Rifle Association’s Freedom Action Foundation (NRA-FAF) today announced the launch of its 2012 “Trigger the Vote” voter registration drive with new television and online ads. The ads feature NRA board member R. Lee “Gunny” Ermey, an accomplished actor and veteran of the Marine Corps, best known to many for his role as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Full Metal Jacket.
The new, nationwide campaign begins at a time when both major political parties have placed less emphasis on new voter registration. “Trigger the Vote” helps to fill this void as a nonpartisan campaign to engage gun owners, hunters, sportsmen and supporters of Second Amendment rights who are not yet registered to vote.
“The NRA has been entrusted with protecting this fundamental right guaranteed to all Americans and written into the Constitution by our Founding Fathers. That is why the fight to preserve our Second Amendment freedom transcends politics and political parties,” said NRA-FAF President Chris W. Cox. “These 2012 elections will impact our freedom for generations. Now, more than ever, Second Amendment supporters must register to vote to ensure they have a voice in elections.”
The new ads, which can be seen at www.triggerthevote.org, officially kick off NRA-FAF’s multimillion dollar, nationwide voter registration drive that will continue throughout the 2012 election cycle. The website equips Second Amendment supporters with all the tools they need to register to vote, find their polling place, and help enlist friends and family in the campaign’s voter efforts.
“It’s not enough just to support the Second Amendment and the NRA,” said Mr. Ermey. “The only way to ensure our rights are guaranteed is by registering to vote, and then voting for pro-Second Amendment candidates. I’m honored the NRA has called me up to active duty for this campaign, and look forward to enlisting all freedom-loving Americans to our cause.”

The NRA Freedom Action Foundation is dedicated to providing non-partisan Second Amendment education to all American citizens. Millions of individuals follow and promote NRA’s issues, but far too many never make it to the ballot box to cast their votes. It is the mission of the NRA Freedom Action Foundation to identify these individuals through rigorous research, reach out to them, and teach the importance of exercising their voting rights.
