Polls Dispel Idea of Gun Ban Support

Obviously, the rush is on for gun ban activists.  Many surely know their road won't lead to a safer society, but they don't care.  As long as their bandwagon is taking on passengers, it gives both the appearance of action being taken and the opportunity to bash the NRA.

Gunny wants you to register to vote!

Too many Americans, for one reason or another, have chosen to sit on the sidelines by not registering to vote. Unfortunately, this includes too many American gun owners. It’s part of my job to do something about that.

We are now less than one year away from the presidential election of 2012. And we are not the only ones keeping track. At the White House, the deal-making is over and the campaigning has begun. NRA-PVF Endorsement Policy

We are rapidly approaching the time when NRA’s Political Action Committee the NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) will begin issuing endorsements in elections across the country. As always in an election year, we receive many calls and e-mails inquiring about our endorsement policy in general, and specific races in particular. That trend has certainly held up this year, as we have received many inquiries about high profile races, such as the Nevada Senate race. For the record, NRA-PVF has not yet announced any ratings or endorsements in this race.

NRA: Fighting the Good Fight

Political battles over health care, economic recovery and other issues dominate the headlines. And while Congress has taken on a few high-profile gun issues--especially interstate Right-to-Carry, Right-to-Carry in national parks, and the battle to reform gun laws in Washington--your NRA-ILA has worked behind the scenes to protect and advance the interests of gun owners in many other areas. Though some bills have come to a vote and others haven’t, all of them provide opportunities to expand our freedoms on the national level.

Blind Alleys On The Information Superhighway

During World War II, soldiers stuck on troopships or remote bases would often start rumors, just for the sake of seeing how fast a tall tale would get back to them. One on One with Chuck Norris

It was the week before the election of 2008 and the Second Amendment needed some help. Economic bad news was drowning out the key differences between candidates on core Second Amendment issues in some of the nation’s tightest races. The media obsession with the presidential race was diverting voter attention from key congressional contests. Freedom hung in the balance. In that final, fateful week, one of America’s favorite action heroes stepped up to take command. Screen star Chuck Norris, known to generations of Americans as an icon of toughness, filmed a television ad on behalf of the NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF). “Some politicians say they support your rights--but their voting records say otherwise,” warned Norris in the ad. “Protect your rights on Election Day--check the candidate’s record, and see who stood up for your family--and who protected the criminals.”

President`s Column: Grassroots Activism Is A Powerful Force

Everyone now knows the danger the Obama-Biden White House poses to the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Political Report: Same Anti-Gunners, Different Year

One of the most stinging blows that Hillary Clinton delivered to Barack Obama's presidential campaign came when she mocked his motto "change you can believe in," by altering it to "change you can Xerox." Now, even as she prepares to join the Obama administration as secretary of state, her criticism is ringing true. Ironically, her own appointment is the most obvious example. Obama is staffing his administration from top to bottom with refugees from the Clinton White House, including two of the most aggressive anti-gun operatives of that era. They, in turn, promise to bring the same approach to the Second Amendment that Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Janet Reno pioneered.

McCain-Palin vs. Obama-Biden A Clear Choice For Gun Owners

In this year’s presidential election, some of the watchwords have been “experience” and “change.” While the Obama-Biden ticket has worked to change gun owners’ rights for the worse, the McCain-Palin ticket couples John McCain’s experience with Alaska Gov. In his speech accepting the Democratic nomination for president, Barack Obama tried to spin his words skillfully. As he has before, Obama claimed he would "uphold the Second Amendment." But Obama, who's lived his whole life in cities, states and foreign countries with restrictive gun laws, once again suggested that "the reality of gun ownership may be different" in rural and urban areas--implying that the Second Amendment means something different depending on where you live.

Few events have shaken up a recent campaign like the choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin—an NRA Life member—for the Republican vice-presidential nomination. Proof of Sen. Protecting the People`s House

The Founding Fathers designed the U.S. House of Representatives to mirror the political landscape of America, and it has usually done that. While senators serve for six years (and were elected by state legislatures until 1913), House members have always been directly elected every two years. In the early days of the Republic, most congressmen represented fewer people than state representatives do today. That closeness to the people was intentional: the Founders wanted the House to reflect the people`s views.
