The Biggest Threat in an Obama Second Term

There are many ways a second term for President Barack Obama threatens the rights of gun owners.  He wants to bring back the 1994 semi-auto ban; his administration has already imposed an illegal registration scheme on certain rifle sales; and there is no way to know how far he would go to use his executive powers to curb our rights if he didn’t have to face reelection

Obama Calls for Gun Bans, But "Nanny B" Wants More

In Tuesday's presidential debate, President Obama said that he supported a ban on "assault weapons" and implied that he supports restrictions on "cheap handguns" too.  No surprises there. As detailed on www.GunBanObama.com and www.GunBanFacts.com, Obama supported banning both types of firearms and many more when he was in the Illinois legislature, and supported banning "assault weapons" when he ran for the White House in 2008, a position he reiterated in the most recent presidential debate.

Outrage of the Week: UK Retailer Caves to Anti-Hunting Extremists

In late August, the radical UK-based animal rights group, Animal Aid, launched a campaign to force British bookstores and newsstands to relegate hunting and shooting publications to the top shelf of magazine racks and prohibit their sale to anyone under the age of 18. In a press release, Animal Aid argued that such publications are "front-line propagandists for 'sport shooting'" and contain "lurid, pro-violence content [that] could have a corrosive, long-lasting effect on young minds." The campaign and report came out three weeks before the start of Animal Aid's annual National Anti-Shooting Week. Other campaigns by the group target horse racing, lifesaving medical research testing and all forms of livestock farming.

Later panels addressed important new developments, both within federal and state firearms law and Second Amendment scholarship.

In 25 days we will go to the polls in what will almost surely be the most important election of our lifetimes.  Other than voting on Election Day (or voting early or via absentee ballot), what more should gun owners do?  The answer is very simple--volunteer to work on pro-gun candidates' campaigns to turn out supportive voters on Election Day, November 6.

Absentee Voting: Bank Your Vote--Assist on Election Day!

With more states than ever allowing early and absentee voting, it is critical that those pro-gun voters who think there may even be a chance they won't be able to vote in person on November 6th, ensure they vote via absentee ballot.  By banking your vote prior to November 6th, not only will you avoid potentially long lines, but you will also be freed up to assist with the Election Day activities of pro-gun candidates in your area!

People Are Driving Less! Ban Guns, Magazines and Privacy!

These days, not too much time passes without Josh Sugarmann, formerly of the National Coalition to Ban Handguns, blurting out some nonsense on the Huffington Post website. Not too much time at all. Usually just enough for him to photocopy a bunch of ads from The Shotgun News, slap them together with a few paragraphs of inflammatory rhetoric that he has used a dozen times before, call the half-asked effort a "study," and run down to the bank to deposit another six-figure check from the Joyce Foundation.

It's Impossible to Legislate Against Evil or Madness

Just a week after the theater massacre in Aurora, Colo., an ancient oak tree in Great Falls, Va., fell on a passing automobile, killing the driver. The Washington Post noted that the killer oak ignited an argument between residents who enjoy the presence of these enormous trees and those who believe the community would be safer without them.

Gun Owners Win Battle at U.N. ...But the War Rages On

Clear Choices- Key Races Will Determine Makeup of United States Senate

In 1787, weeks after the Constitution was sent to the states for ratification, James Madison wrote to Thomas Jefferson to recount the debates in the constitutional convention. The Senate, Madison wrote, was “the great anchor of the Government.” The same is true today, for two reasons of special concern to gun owners.

UK Judges Revive Right to Self-Defense

When British couple Andy and Tracey Ferrie were arrested in early September on "suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm," after using a registered shotgun to fight off a pair of home invaders, self-defense proponents in the U.S. and across the pond feared the worst. After all, in the U.K. the right to self-defense has been degraded into near non-existence; made apparent by the infamous case of farmer Tony Martin and incidents like that of British TV personality Myleene Klass. However, in a rare bout of sanity, U.K. officials have dropped all charges against the Ferries and sent a warning to would-be criminals, in what will hopefully serve as a blueprint for how such cases are handled in the future.

Brad Pitt is Pro-Gun?

It is probably safe to say that a majority of Hollywood's stars and A-list actors fall on the anti-gun side of the aisle when it comes to their view of our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.  Historically, not all are anti-gun--Charlton Heston, Tom Selleck, and Chuck Norris, for instance--but a majority are.  And for those stars who are pro-gun, openly admitting to that fact these days would bring almost certain disdain and attack from their peers (think Rosie O'Donnell).
