DOJ "Fast and Furious" Report Hits Hard--But Pulls Punches on Holder

The Department of Justice Inspector General's report on the "Fast and Furious" scandal was released this week, and while it found 14 officials from the department and its Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives responsible for the reckless program, it failed, unfortunately, to hold Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. responsible for the actions of those under his supervision.

The latest rumor making its way through the darker corners of the internet is an inaccurate spin on the U.N.'s never-ending mission to disarm the American people. As If Anyone Needed Another Reason to Vote This Year . . .

The Obama administration has been trying to spin all manner of news like a centrifuge recently, so the latest shenanigan of the president's spinner-in-chief at the Department of Justice, Tracy Schmaler, could easily have been lost in the shuffle.  But it didn't escape the attention of everyone in the media.

Brad Pitt is Pro-Gun?

It is probably safe to say that a majority of Hollywood's stars and A-list actors fall on the anti-gun side of the aisle when it comes to their view of our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.  Historically, not all are anti-gun--Charlton Heston, Tom Selleck, and Chuck Norris, for instance--but a majority are.  And for those stars who are pro-gun, openly admitting to that fact these days would bring almost certain disdain and attack from their peers (think Rosie O'Donnell).

Let the Finger-Pointing Begin

We reported last month that the Department of Justice's Inspector General's draft report on "Operation Fast and Furious" placed most of the blame for the debacle on Phoenix‑based agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and on the Phoenix U.S. Attorney's Office staff.

As Terrorists Murder Americans Overseas, Brady Campaign Not Sure America is Greatest Nation on Earth

If there's one thing Brady Campaign president Dan Gross learned from the days when he worked for an ad agency, it's that you have to tailor your message to your audience. So when Gross was writing his most recent commentary for the America-bashing Huffington Post website, it was only natural that he would try to stir up support for gun control by speaking in terms America-bashers were sure to understand.

"Fast and Furious" Failure Fosters Favoritism for Finagling Fed

Fox News, the Washington Post, the L.A. Times, and The Hill are all over this one, as they should be. It seems that BATFE's William McMahon, who, as the agency's Assistant Deputy Director for Field Operations approved its catastrophic and deadly “Fast and Furious” operation, is being allowed to receive his six-figure federal paycheck for nearly half a year, while working full-time as investment bank J. P. Morgan’s executive director for global security and investments in the Philippines. As the Washington Post reports, "McMahon was one of five ATF officials recently singled out in a congressional report on the botched gun operation. The report alleged that McMahon knew that no safeguards were in place to prevent a large number of guns from getting into Mexico, but he made no effort to stop them."Fox News says "The [double-dipping, two-paycheck] arrangement allows McMahon to retire [from the BATFE] in December with a full government pension."

"Separate but Equal" Housing for University of Colorado Gun Owners?

The University of Colorado may want to check with its law professors on this one. The university system is releasing new Plessy v. The university system is apparently planning to house students who have Right-to-Carry permits in separate dormitories on its Boulder and Colorado Springs campuses. Guns would be prohibited in other dormitories, as well as at football games, concerts, and other ticketed events.
