It's Impossible to Legislate Against Evil or Madness

Just a week after the theater massacre in Aurora, Colo., an ancient oak tree in Great Falls, Va., fell on a passing automobile, killing the driver. The Washington Post noted that the killer oak ignited an argument between residents who enjoy the presence of these enormous trees and those who believe the community would be safer without them.

Gun Owners Win Battle at U.N. ...But the War Rages On

Late on July 27, when word came out that the United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) had failed to reach a “consensus” agreement on a draft treaty, American gun owners breathed a well-deserved sigh of relief.

Clear Choices- Key Races Will Determine Makeup of United States Senate

In 1787, weeks after the Constitution was sent to the states for ratification, James Madison wrote to Thomas Jefferson to recount the debates in the constitutional convention. The Senate, Madison wrote, was “the great anchor of the Government.” The same is true today, for two reasons of special concern to gun owners.

Ending Holder's Corrupt, Lawless Rule

Of all of the threats to American liberty posed by the Obama administration, the most dangerous is the corruption of the U.S. Department of Justice where high-level misfeasance, malfeasance and nonfeasance have become the norm.

Colorado Tragedy Leads to Proposed Ammo and Magazine Limits

Like the rest of the nation, all of us at the NRA were shocked and saddened by the tragedy in Aurora, Colo., this past July. We quickly issued a statement that our thoughts and prayers were with the victims, their families and the community, then we respectfully declined any further comment during the time of national mourning.

NRA Researchers Respond to PolitiFact Bias

In 2007, with polls showing that only 22 percent of the American people trusted newspapers to tell the truth, and newspaper readership plummeting nationwide, the Tampa Bay Times doubled down on journalists' already high self-confidence by forming the PolitiFact project, which markets itself as providing the final word on truth in politics.

UK Judges Revive Right to Self-Defense

When British couple Andy and Tracey Ferrie were arrested in early September on "suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm," after using a registered shotgun to fight off a pair of home invaders, self-defense proponents in the U.S. and across the pond feared the worst. After all, in the U.K. the right to self-defense has been degraded into near non-existence; made apparent by the infamous case of farmer Tony Martin and incidents like that of British TV personality Myleene Klass. However, in a rare bout of sanity, U.K. officials have dropped all charges against the Ferries and sent a warning to would-be criminals, in what will hopefully serve as a blueprint for how such cases are handled in the future.

The U.S. Department of Justice is supposed to be a neutral guardian of the rule of law and protector of our national order. It is supposed to uphold the United States Constitution. Brad Pitt is Pro-Gun?

It is probably safe to say that a majority of Hollywood's stars and A-list actors fall on the anti-gun side of the aisle when it comes to their view of our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.  Historically, not all are anti-gun--Charlton Heston, Tom Selleck, and Chuck Norris, for instance--but a majority are.  And for those stars who are pro-gun, openly admitting to that fact these days would bring almost certain disdain and attack from their peers (think Rosie O'Donnell).

If there's one thing Brady Campaign president Dan Gross learned from the days when he worked for an ad agency, it's that you have to tailor your message to your audience.
