Today, the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) published an article dispelling exaggerated allegations about House Bill 875. HB 875, which we have previously reported on here, is a comprehensive pro-gun reform bill seeking to update Georgia firearms law in numerous ways.
HB 875 has recently come under attack by the national anti-gun group called “Americans for Responsible Solutions”(ARS), founded by former U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords and her husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly. In a press release on February 26, ARS went so far as to claim this bill is the “most extreme gun bill in America.” However, the AJC repudiates this claim and reminds readers that the reforms sought by HB 875 are common sense, and far from extreme when compared to firearms laws and regulations across the country and concluded that the supporting evidence for ARS’s assertion that HB 875 is “the most extreme gun bill in America” is seriously lacking.
The pro-gun reforms in HB 875 comprise similar legislation being introduced and considered across the country. The time to restructure Georgia firearms law is now. Be assured that your NRA is diligently working on this legislation. Your NRA-ILA will continue to keep you updated on this legislation as well as other measures that affect you this year.
