On Monday, March 3, an important NRA-backed self-defense bill was introduced to the Alaska Senate Judiciary Committee. Those wishing to testify in support of this legislation will be able to do so tomorrow, March 10.
Sponsored by state Senator John Coghill (R-A), Senate Bill 176 would allow law-abiding citizens to possess and carry firearms for self-defense on the University of Alaska’s campuses by limiting the Board of Regent’s ability to regulate the possession and carry of firearms on campuses.
Tomorrow’s hearing will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the Beltz 105 room of the Thomas Stuart Legislative Building. If you are unable to attend, you can still listen in on the hearings remotely by clicking here, or by calling into your Legislative Information Office and requesting to be directed to the Senate Judiciary Committee to listen in via telephone.
