Today, the Wisconsin Senate Transportation, Public Safety, and Veterans and Military Affairs Committee unanimously passed Assembly Bill 368. AB 368, sponsored by state Representative John Spiros (R-86), would align Wisconsin with forty other states that already allow their residents to purchase rifles and shotguns in non-contiguous states, provided that the purchase or transfer complies with state and federal law. Currently, Wisconsin residents can only purchase long guns in bordering states. AB 368 would repeal this arbitrary restriction and allow Wisconsin residents the freedom to purchase long guns in states beyond their immediate borders.
The NRA thanks Senate committee chairman Jerry Petrowski (R-29) for his support of AB 368. Additionally, we encourage you to contact members of the Senate Transportation, Public Safety, and Veterans and Military Affairs Committee to thank them for their support of this pro-gun reform legislation. Committee members’ contact information can be found here.
AB 368 will now go to the state Senate where it is expected to be considered on the Senate floor as early as next week. Please contact your state Senator and urge him or her to vote YES on AB 368. Contact information for state Senators can be found here.
