On Monday, March 3, an important NRA-backed self-defense bill will be introduced to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Those who wish to testify will be able to do so on Wednesday, March 5, and again on Friday, March 7.
Sponsored by state Senator John Coghill (R-A), Senate Bill 176 would allow law-abiding citizens to possess and carry firearms for self-protection on the University of Alaska’s campuses by limiting the Board of Regent’s ability to regulate the possession and carry of firearms on campuses.
Next week’s series of hearings will take place at 1:30 p.m. on both Wednesday and Friday in the Beltz 105 room of the Thomas Stuart Building. If you are unable to attend one of the hearings, you may listen remotely by clicking here, or call into your Legislative Information Office and request to be directed to the Senate Judiciary Committee to listen in via telephone. If you miss the hearing and would like to watch it at a different time, click here.
Your NRA-ILA will continue to update you on how to testify, or call in to provide public input, when more information is available.
