Yesterday, the Pennsylvania legislature returned to Harrisburg to vote on its new leadership positions for the 2015-2016 session. On November 4th, Republicans expanded their existing majorities in both legislative chambers: now 30-20 in the state Senate and 119-84 in the state House of Representatives. When the 2015 legislative session commences in January, the new Senate President Pro-Tempore will be Senator Joe Scarnati (SD-25). Senator Jake Corman (SD-34) will be replacing Delaware County Senator Dominic Pileggi as Senate Majority Leader.
The new House Speaker will be Representative Mike Turzai (HD-28) and the House Majority Leader will be Representative Dave Reed (HD-62), replacing Representative Turzai in that position.
Both Senate and House Democrats elected to keep their current leadership in place.
