Contact your state Legislators TODAY
On March 22, Governor Gary Herbert (R) vetoed House Bill 76. Your help is needed immediately to save this important right to carry bill that received the overwhelming approval of the state legislature this session. Contact your state Senator and Representative now, and urge the state Legislature to reconvene for a veto session by May 13 and to vote to override the Governor’s veto of HB 76. An override session can only take place with consent from two-thirds of both state legislative chambers, so each call AND e-mail to your state lawmakers will make the difference!
Currently, Utah Law allows law-abiding gun owners to openly carry an unloaded firearm. HB 76 would legalize the concealment of the same unloaded firearm by law-abiding persons 21 years of age or older. HB 76, sponsored by state Representative John Mathis (R-55), received overwhelming approval in the state House by a 51 to 18 vote on March 1 and in the state Senate by a 22 to 7 vote on March 13.
Please call AND e-mail your state Senator and Representative IMMEDIATELY. Respectfully urge him or her to support reconvening for a veto override session before May 13, and to vote to override the Governor's veto of HB 76.
