Tennessee: Contact Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee in Support of Critical Permit Confidentiality Legislation

Friday, March 29, 2013

Your urgent help needed to ensure Senate Bill 108 advances in the legislative process

On Tuesday, April 2 at 2:30 p.m., the Senate Judiciary Committee will consider Senate Bill 108, legislation to keep confidential all information on those residents who possess a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit (HCP).

SB 108 would make confidential, and not open for public inspection, all information pertaining to an HCP application, renewal application and the status of an HCP holder.  Tennesseans deserve the same protections that residents in 37 other states already enjoy due to Right-to-Carry confidentiality laws in place.

Next week marks the third week that SB 108 will have remained stalled in committee, and this critical reform deserves a vote to advance it in the legislative process.  Please contact members of the Senate Judiciary Committee today and encourage them to vote for Senate Bill 108.  Respectfully urge members of this committee to protect the privacy of HCP holders in the Volunteer State by supporting SB 108 WITHOUT any carve outs for political campaigns.
